Birthday Toy Drive 2016

Kate absolutely LOVED birthdays.

She would get giddy with excitement over every one she attended, every birthday gift we picked for someone else and birthday party we planned. Her absolute favorite part was always the goodie bags…picking the prizes and fun in each bag, assembling them and best of all, handing them out to her friends.

Kate’s 5th birthday was just a short 5 months after she passed away, so we got to thinking about doing something that would make her proud and giddy with excitement from her rainbow-filled perch in Heaven.

We announced the Kate’s Cause Birthday Toy Drive benefiting the children of the PSV Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in honor of our girl on May 1st.

We collected small toys, art supplies and prizes and delivered them on behalf of Kate’s Cause along with her favorite birthday treat – chocolate cupcakes with rainbow sprinkles. Prizes helped Kate get through the YEARS of weekly pokes and blood draws.

Kids spend full days at the clinic, their siblings, too. They spend their birthdays in the clinic. The nurses and therapists work so hard to make it fun with activities and crafts, but they could always use help.

With the overwhelming success of this toy drive, we knew it was going to be an annual thing.
