My “why” is easy. I instantly connected with Kate and her family. Two plus years of weekly clinic visits allowed us to spend a lot of time together. We shared parts of each others’ lives and I loved watching Kate grow. I hated watching her endure all of the side effects and hearing about all of the trials and tribulations of the long and arduous treatment process, but loved watching her be so brave.
I still miss her weekly Monday appointments where she would teach me all about her newest Shopkins, or school me on dinosaur knowledge. I loved how she called me “Doctor DOUGHman” and can still hear her say it.
Dr. Robin Dulman is board certified in pediatric hematology/oncology. She completed her undergraduate studies at Cornell University, College of Human Ecology, where she majored in Biology & Society. She went on to medical school at University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and completed her residency & fellowship at NYU. She spent two years working there before joining Inova in the fall of 2010. Inova Health System and Children’s National Medical Center merged in October of 2013 to create The Pediatric Specialists of Virginia Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Kate’s beloved clinic.
Robin is married with two kids and enjoys spending time with her family, exercise, travel and cooking healthy meals.
I cannot wait to get started to help other kids in Kate’s honor. I’ve applied for grants myself in the past, but can’t wait to help in this area and learn on the job!
