A Kegs & Corks Recap

Kegs & Corks for Kids’ Cancer is very quickly becoming our favorite. It was SO. MUCH. FUN. Lots of work? Definitely. Totally worth it? Without a doubt.

Beer + wine + great friends + football + cute kids + a good cause = one amazing way to spend a Sunday.

Kegs & Corks for Kids’ Cancer started four years ago and was founded by Kate’s beloved nurse, Sarah. Never one to sit back and watch the world of childhood cancer pass by without being ACTIVE, Sarah found a need to give back (as if her contributions to our kids and families wasn’t enough.) This year, Sarah decided she wanted Kate’s Cause to benefit from the monies raised and the dream partnership of Sarah + Lindsay was created and Kegs & Corks for Kids’ Cancer Benefiting Kate’s Cause was born.

We worked together for months sourcing donations for beer, wine and prizes for our raffle. Sarah kicked it up a serious notch by bringing in some amazing additions to the line up like the One Man Band to entertain the kiddos, Be The Match to swab our guests and add them to the bone marrow registry and even Princess Awesome. (Yes! The amazing dress and clothing company who makes…well…amazing items for girls!)

We were completely gobsmacked when three weeks prior to the event…it sold out. Okay, okay, it might’ve been the amazing prize line up we had but we’ll assume it was because word got out that the event was going to be bigger and better than ever and well, the cause was pretty good too.

We ended up with 36 raffle prizes that our guests went bonkers for. The bidding wars and ticket sales for items like park hopper passes to Disney World, Four Roses Bourbon and half a cow (yes….half a cow!) were so fun to watch. We are so grateful for the donations that came in from all corners of our worlds to raise money.

Guests got to taste beers from Old Ox Brewery, Brooklyn Brewery and our host venue, Bad Wolf Brewing Company. They also got to sample wines from Story Point, V.NO and even Myx Fusions (Nicki Minaj’s brain-child. Why yes. Yes, there IS a funny story in there.)

Friends, neighbors, family and clinic families came to enjoy the beautiful Sunday afternoon together, raise awareness and raise money…and raise money we did.

Together, because of you, we raised a grand total of $13,660.42.

They also came to bid farewell to Sarah, as she & her family will be moving soon. It is with great pleasure and humble gratitude that I share that officially, Kate’s Cause will attempt to fill the big shoes she leaves behind and spearhead Kegs & Corks for Kids’ Cancer 2018.

We so enjoyed the day and are so grateful for all of those who donated products & services, donated money & time and came to support our cause. We promise to do everything we can to make Sarah proud in the years to come. I just know that our little heavenly puppet master grins ear to ear knowing we are bonded this way.

Sarah, our cups runneth over. We love you and we thank you.
